Mom And Dad Adopt 9 Year Old Orphan, Then Learn The SHOCKING Truth Behind Her Identity…

After Bernie and Diane Lierow’s four sons grew up and left the house, they felt as if something was missing. While they still had one son living at home, they longed for the ongoing activity that is part of having a full house and they felt the need to fill a void…

While attending an adoption event, Diane felt drawn to a black and white photo of a seven year old girl named Danielle, who hadn’t been able to attend the event along with the one hundred other children in attendance.

Having always wanted a daughter, the couple inquired about the girl  and soon they learned that she had suffered a severely abusive childhood prior to being discovered by police. Living in squalor, Danielle had been found in a Florida home and had allegedly never left the house, was unable to talk and wasn’t able to eat solid food.

“I’ve been in law enforcement for 27 years now, and this is by far, bar none, the worst case of child neglect I’ve ever come across in my career,” said Detective Mark Holste, who had found Danielle in the filthy home.

“Everywhere you stepped there were cockroaches and animal feces from the cats and dogs.” Danielle had been found in a closet-sized room at the back of the house. She was seven years old at the time and weighed only 46 pounds.

Immediately following the child’s rescue, the girl’s biological mother lost her parental lights and Danielle was sent to urgent care.

She was considered to be a feral child and caseworkers advised the couple to explore other options, attempting to direct the couple toward other children in need of homes. But even after they assured the couple that Danielle would be an overwhelming amount of work, both Diane and Bernie felt that the girl was meant to be theirs and they weren’t deterred.

Having been diagnosed with environmental autism, Danielle was only functioning on an age level of between 0 and 6 months old. The Lierow’s weren’t sure if they would be able to potty train her or even teach her how to eat with a spoon or fork.

While the Lierow’s had severe challenges facing them, Danielle is now a happy ten-year-old and has made phenomenal progress. She is able to walk, talk, play and she is constantly learning.

“She has arrived at the place where she was meant to be,” said Diane. “There are so many children in need of adoptive parents and there is a huge reward in watching these broken children learn and grow.”

Danielle’s story or perseverance and love has gone viral and has led to a rise in other couple’s inquiring about adoption.

  • Commenters’ hearts went out to Danielle and the Lierow family…
  • “So amazing and beautiful <3 Bless this lovely family and thank you God, I love you!”
  • “This hurts me to my soul. How could some one do this to a child?”

“Im not religious, but the faith these parents demonstrate through their speech outright amazes me.”

“So shines a good deed in a weary world.”
